During the month of December, this awesome community of fellow photographers hosted a charity fundraiser to raise funds for the Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit that donates “comfort homes” on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. The program provides free accommodations to family members so they can be close to their military loved one during an unexpected hospitalization for a sudden injury or illness. Clickin’ Moms chose this foundation for their fundraiser as a tribute to the many servicemembers and military spouses who are also CM members; several of our members have also directly benefited from the wonderful services provided by the Fisher House Foundation. In a touching display of honor, Clickin’ Moms decided to give the donation in memory of my late husband, SSgt Bryan D. Berky, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in September 2009.
Well, I am pleased to announce that the fundraiser was a smashing success! The grand total donated by these kind souls? $11,270!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — what an absolutely amazing, compassionate, and generous (not to mention talented!) community of women we have at Clickin’ Moms! I’m moved to tears thinking of just how much this donation will positively impact the lives of so many our military families. And I know my Bryan would be so very honored.
And because this fundraiser was such a success, Clickin’ Moms has decided to keep it open year round! Stop by the Clickin’ Moms Store and check out the Clickin Moms’ 2010 Charity Gift Pack. 100% of the money received will be donated directly to the Fisher House Foundation. In return for your donation of $10, $25, $50, $100, or more, you get a digital bundle full of fabulous tools, educational materials, and visual inspiration. And if you are a photographer, hobbiest or pro, or are simply interested in learning more about photography, join in the fun at Clickin Moms. See you there!
