This week, I’m grateful for and inspired by these simple treasures captured with Instagram:
Creating special memories with Little Man! Nana (my mama) and I took Little Man to see Sesame Street Live this week. We did this last year, although he was a little too young to enjoy it, and I wanted to continue the tradition. This year’s theme was Elmo’s Superheroes, and Little Man rocked the cape I made for him. He thoroughly enjoyed himself and I think we’ll do it again next year.
Getting bitten by the craft bug again! I’m really trying to ‘find myself’ again (yes, in all it’s teen-angst glory!) and being hands-on and crafty is something I truly enjoy. I wandered around craft stores for hours the other day and scored some awesome fabrics, pillow forms, burlap, and notions for super cheap. Lots of projects in my near future.
Getting and staying healthy! I had a dentist appointment this week, my first in (my head is hung in shame) three years. Don’t judge me, haha! With so much going on the past few years, I hadn’t taken the time to properly focus on my health. I was so worried that I had created a dental disaster, but I had a perfect check up. Yay for shining smiles. Now to think about orthodontics…
And last, but most importantly, honoring the special people in our lives! Today is Gold Star Mother’s Day, a day set to honor the sacrifices made by mothers whose military children were killed in action. This evening, luminaries are shining across the world to remember those fallen and the mothers who brought them into this world. My luminary is shining for The Hubs and for his mother, my second Mom and one of my best friends. “May the Gold Star Mothers of yesterday and today note that your sons and daughters are not forgotten.”
