Who the Hell is Writing This Mess?

One of the unfortunate aspects of writing about the topics I do (grief, life change, depression, upheaval, miscellaneous thoughts that often don’t make much sense) is that they don’t provide a regular opportunity to show the many dimensions of who I am.

You may come to this blog randomly, browse around a while, and leave thinking I am just some screwed up lonely weirdo who drinks too much wine and doesn’t have much life outside of her kiddo and her past. While you would be pretty much correct on that :P , I *do* have a bit more to me! One of my goals in the new direction of the blog is to show more of the other sides of me, so I thought I’d kick that off with a bit of an exposé.

Hence, this little (okay, so 75 isn’t little) list of questions, compiled from two popular memes smashed together, to help you get to know me a bit better. C’mon, you know you want to read it. :)

  1. What time did you go to bed last night and were you alone? — Hmm, about 10 or so. And yes, sigh.
  2. If you could be given ANY gift what would it be? — A material object? Hmm. Something with some thought behind it. Would depend on who was giving it, I guess!
  3. What was the last film that really moved/disturbed/thrilled you and why? — Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It isn’t new to me, but I hadn’t watched it in a while and when I did recently, I took something new away from it in relation to a new side of my life.
  4. What is your favorite TV show of all time i.e. you’ve seen them all, can watch it over and over again and quote lines from it? — Friends. Haha! I could quote them.
  5. What’s your favorite way to wake up and what’s the first thing you do? — All smooshed together with someone I love, and I would kiss their forehead and smile with content in the moment.
  6. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name? — Hmm. I used to hate my name, not sure why, but I like it now. Not too common, fits me well. But if I had to change it, I’d pick Laurel, Annalise, or Camelia. Always loved those.
  7. If you had to do a bushtucker challenge (you have to eat insects/grubs etc) what would be the worst thing you had to eat? — Any of them. No thanks.
  8. What’s the worst/most embarrassing CD/Album you’ve ever owned and do you still have it? — Hahaha I had a Hanson CD in 7th grade, ‘like totally awesome’ then of course! Definitely don’t have it now.
  9. What would be your dream vehicle (bikes, cars, boats, bat-car and millennium falcon is allowed!)? — A vintage Rolls Royce. Ultimately classy.
  10. What’s your favorite fantasy people sandwich? — Haha this question cracks me up! Hmm, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. Both totally hot.
  11. What characteristics do you dislike in yourself? — I question myself too much, I’m indecisive, I care too much about what people think, and I procrastinate a lot.
  12. Your favorite item of clothing and why? — Do shoes count as clothing? I love my boots.
  13. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would it be and who would it be with? — Ooh that’s hard to narrow down. Right now, Paris. And with someone who loves me.
  14. If you could have any animal/creature, what would be your ultimate pet be? — I already have him! Love my little Oliver.
  15. What did you want to be when you were little and do you think you ever will be? — I changed my mind as much then as I do now. I went from veterinarian to dentist to ballet teacher to psychologist to teacher. I still don’t know. Now, I just want to be someone who knows what they want to be.
  16. Whats the next planned event you’re looking forward to in your life? — Excited to get my Invisalign aligners in two weeks! Sad, huh? After that…hmm. Excited to see someone special, hopefully soon.
  17. What were you doing before you started this? — Writing another post, texting a friend, tending my puppy, and enjoying the cool evening on my porch with a gimlet. Being awesome.
  18. What was the last thing you ate that you really shouldn’t? — I haven’t really splurged in a while. I guess the cocktail I am consuming right now counts though, huh?! :P
  19. If you were an ice cream/Haagen Daz/Ben and Jerry’s flavor what would you be? — Dulce de Leche. Creamy, sweet indulgence, baby.
  20. Who was the last person you spoke to that you didn’t want to talk to? — No one comes to mind.
  21. What was your favorite toy as a child  . . .and now? — I guess I liked toys as a kiddo, but I don’t recall any as much as I remember simply spending time outdoors. Climbing trees and exploring the woods were more fun than any toy to me. Books were definitely a must.
  22. When was the last time you cried laughing and why? — Hahahahha, Little Man had my Mama and I both in tears the other day when he was trying to tell her “eat” his pretend pie he cooked in his play kitchen. He gave her a fork and told her to “fork it”, but it didn’t sound like that, hahahahha. Yes, I have potty humor!

  32. Are you a collector of anything? — Stationary, I’m obsessed. Willow Tree figurines, mugs. Souls.
  33. If you could be any animal, what would you be? — Hmm, a bird of some sort. Preferably a powerful one, so I could enjoy my abilities without worry of predators.
  34. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? — I used to think I’d like to read people’s minds, but now I’m not so sure. Same thing with invisibility. Really, any extra power would ultimately serve to show you things you don’t really want to know, so I wouldn’t really want any.

  44. Which bad habits, if any, drive you crazy? — Are we talking pet peeves here? If so, I could go on and on! I hate bad drivers, poor manners, rude people, chewing sounds, the words “meal” and “moist”, parents who yell, arrogance, close-mindedness, indecision (although I have that myself), people who won’t stand up for others. Boy, I guess I’m more opinionated than I thought! :P

  55. Are you mostly a clean or messy person? — Clean and organized, for sure. With a touch of disorder for character. ;)
  56. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? — I haven’t figured this out yet, it actually bothers me quite a bit! I want the ‘perfect’ place, somewhere with both mountains and beaches….
  57. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? — I think I answered this already?
  58. List 5 goals on your life’s to-do list: — I have detailed many of my ‘bucket list’ items on my 101 Things post. 63. What’s your favorite song of all time? — Again, hard to pick one…. Imagine by The Beatles.
  64. What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night? — With my kiddo? Snuggling on the couch with blankie! :) Alone? Writing and listening to music. With someone special? Anything where our connection is enhanced.
  65. What’s your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon? — Spending time outdoors at the park or hiking a trail.
  66. Have any hidden talents? — Wouldn’t you like to know? ;)
  67. You’re about to walk the green mile, what do you have as your last meal? — How depressing!! If I was about to take my last breaths, I wouldn’t be thinking about food and would surely forego my last meal for more moments with my loved ones.

  72. Name 1 thing not many people know about you: — I grew up a country girl, riding horses and raising pigs and feeding chickens. My Dad says that’s why I’m so tall, walking barefooted through the fields with ‘natural fertilizer’, haha!
