Do you know who Joseph Kony is? Before yesterday, most people didn’t. Myself included. But thanks to a widespread movement, now I know — and I won’t soon forget.
The video below is long, but worth the watch. It explains much better than I can who Kony is and the horrific things he is doing to the children of Uganda.
Then, I encourage you to do your own research and get involved. Learn more about Kony and the movements to stop him. Write a blog post, tweet #KONY2012, share the video on Facebook. If you can, contribute to the charity referenced in the video or to another. Or not at all, because the most important thing is to spread awareness — get his name out there, and make Kony famous. Because only with awareness can we stop him.
EDIT: As with any media-based campaign, there have been a lot of questions regarding the Invisible Children organization (the one behind this video and widespread movement). Here is a link to a Question and Answer page with more information about Invisible Children.
